Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day athlete DJ Williams had options. Not only did he have options of which college to play for, but what position to play on the next level. He has decided on both. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound three-star has committed to Louisville over Ole Miss and Missouri, where he plans to play wide receiver.

“Louisville was so welcoming,” Williams told On3. “The hospitality, the area around the school and the coaches all factored into my decision. It was an extremely tough decision, and I had to think hard on it and pray about it, but Louisville is the right school for me.”

Deion Branch and Mark Ivey tag-teamed Williams when it came to his recruitment. Both played a role in this decision.

“Coach Ivey and I have been buddies for a very long time. He is full of jokes, he is very creative and he is just a fun guy to be around. Me and coach Branch are more heart-to-heart and connect on that level. He has been there and done that at Louisville and in the NFL, so that was big too. I trust to develop me and that was a gigantic factor.”

Williams is excited about playing for head coach Jeff Brohm too. Like Branch, Brohm played for the Cardinals and the new commit is excited about what he is going into.

“Louisville always has a top offense and the program is in a good spot,” Williams said. “They have been winning under coach Brohm, they are starting to get defensive guys and the program is only getting better.

“It is a winning team with great coaches and a great city to live in. Louisville is the right fit for me.”
