Aggies Add a Tank to Their 2026 Class

Texas A&M has filled most of its needs at linebacker in the span of four days after adding the commitment of Tank King Friday.
The 3-star linebacker has long been an A&M lean, but he had plenty of options to choose from. The Port Arthur Memorial product had offers from the likes of Texas, Alabama, Penn State and Tennessee, but narrowed his list to A&M, Notre Dame and Michigan before finally pulling the trigger on Independence Day.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder is the second linebacker to commit to the Aggies this week, following Carthage 4-star DaQuives Beck. King and Beck will likely be the three-down linebackers in this class, with Samu Moala and Storm Miller likely to see time at the JACK position as well.
King is the 23rd commit overall for the class and the ninth from the state of Texas. He’s the 10th overall commit on the defensive side of the ball for the Aggies. He racked up 141 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles in his 2024 campaign.
Analysis of A&M’s newest commit
King is an intelligent linebacker blessed with the instinctive ability to find the football. Add in outstanding tackling skills and you’ve got a linebacker offered by most of the major programs in the nation.
In his Hudl highlights, which you can see here, King shows off his ability to find the ball right off the bat. He’s looking right into the backfield, isn’t confused by the motion, and is able to slide to where the ballcarrier is going to make the play.
King does a great job of keeping linemen off him, using his arms and his quickness to disengage when a blocker gets to him. He keeps his eyes on the ballcarrier all the time and doesn’t look down to deal with the player trying to block him. Once he gets to the running back or receiver, he wraps up and he finishes the tackle. He’s not looking for highlight reel hits, he’s looking to get his target to the ground.
King’s still a little light at 205 pounds, but he’s got the frame to put on more. He’ll also have time to do it, since the Aggies have some really good linebackers ahead of him. That should buy him a year or two of development.
