Dilin Jones, Jake Renfro Ruled Out For the Remainder of the Season

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell announced Monday that three players will miss the remainder of the 2025 season. Starting running back and redshirt freshman Dilin Jones (turf toe), starting center and senior Jake Renfro, and reserve safety and sophomore Matthew Traynor (torn ACL) are all out for the final four games of the season.
Jones, the team’s leading rusher, has 300 yards and two touchdowns on 76 carries. Jones did not play in UW’s last outing, a 21-7 loss at No. 6 Oregon. He had a career-high 73 yards on 14 carries in the season opener against Miami (OH).
The Badgers have struggled to run the ball effectively all season. Through eight games, UW ranks No. 114 nationally in rushing yards per game (109.8). The Badgers also stand No. 122 in FBS in average yards per rush (3.2).
Renfro was a late scratch against Oregon and has already undergone season-ending surgery, according to Fickell. The senior, who has battled injuries his entire career, played in just four games during the 2025 campaign.
Without Renfro, senior Davis Heinzen is expected to get the nod at center. Heinzen, a Central Michigan transfer, began the year starting at left tackle.
Traynor, a transfer from Richmond, played in seven of eight games for the Badgers. He recorded 4.0 tackles in reserve duty.
Wisconsin resumes action on Saturday against No. 24 Washington. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. CT at Camp Randall Stadium.
