MADISON, Wis. — Team and individual notes from Wisconsin’s 27-10 win over Illinois on Saturday.

Team Notes

– Today’s captains: graduate student CB Ricardo Hallman, graduate student LB Aaron Witt,, senior WR Vinny Anthony II, and graduate LB Darryl Peterson III.

– Tonight’s attendance at Camp Randall Stadium was 67,876.

– The victory over No. 21 Illinois is Wisconsin’s 2nd win over a CFP Top-25 team this season. Prior to Wisconsin’s win over No. 23 Washington earlier this month, Wisconsin last beat a ranked team in 2021. UW has scored a pair of wins over ranked teams at Camp Randall for the first time since the 2019 season. The Badgers defeated No. 11 Michigan and No. 18 Iowa that season.

– The Badgers have won back-to-back games over Illinois and are now winners of 13 of the last 15 meetings between the teams.

– Wisconsin’s 209 rushing yards were its most in a game since they accumulated 309 rushing yards against Rutgers on 10/12/24.

– Wisconsin’s 16-play, 80-yard touchdown drive in the first quarter ate up 9:30 of game time. It marked Wisconsin’s longest scoring drive (duration) since 2021. In the 2021 regular season-finale against Minnesota, the Badgers logged a 15-play, 85-yard drive that lasted 9:52 and ended in a field goal.

– The Badgers earned five sacks for the third consecutive game, all against ranked opponents. The last time Wisconsin finished with five or more sacks in a game versus a ranked foe was in 2021. The Badgers have not posted 5.0+ sacks in 3 straight games since at least 2005.

– Wisconsin improved to 14-7 on Senior Day dating back to 2015.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

– QB Carter Smith completed 9-of-11 passes for 75 yards and added 44 yards rushing. Smith’s 81.8 completion percentage was the best for a Badger QB attempting 5+ passes since Danny O’Neil went 23-for-27 for an 85.2 completion percentage earlier in the season against Middle Tennessee State.

– RB Darrion Dupree rushed 17 times for 131 yards, the most for a Badger RB since Tawee Walker finished with 198 yards against Rutgers on 10/12/24. Dupree notched the first multi-score game
of his career. Dupree became the first Badger to rush for 100 yards since Tawee Walker on Oct. 19, 2024 at Northwestern. Dupree’s 84-yard TD run was the longest for a Badger since Chez Mellusi scampered 89 yards for a score against Buffalo in the 2023 season-opener.

– WR Vinny Anthony II scored on a 6-yard rush to give Wisconsin an early lead. Anthony now has two rushing TDs, a receiving score and a kickoff return for a TD this season.

– WR Trech Kekahuna reached five receptions for the fourth time in his career, last doing so against Maryland on 9/20/25.

– OLB Darryl Peterson III accounted for three of the Badgers’ five sacks on the evening, a new career-best. He’s the first Badger to have multiple sacks in back-to-back games since Nick Herbig in 2022. Prior to this fall, Wisconsin had not had a player notch multiple sacks in a game since Peterson did so in 2023 versus Georgia Southern. The last time a UW defender finished with three sacks in one game was Nick Herbig against Iowa on 11/12/21.

OLB Mason Reiger notched a sack, giving him shares of sacks in 4 straight games. Reiger entered the game tied for the team lead with 4.0 sacks this season.

– CB D’Yoni Hill set a new career-high for solo tackles, tallying seven. His eight total tackles mark the second-best of his career, as he finished with nine against Indiana last weekend.

– K Nathanial Vakos drilled a 47-yard FG before the half to give Wisconsin a 10-7 lead. The 47-yard boot was his longest make of the season. The score was the Badgers’ first tally in the final minute of the first half this season. Vakos finished 2-for-2 in the win, hitting from 47 and 32 yards.

– P Sean West had five punts for 243 yards, coming out to 48.6 yards per punt.
