Pro Football Focus Grades the Wisconsin Offense vs. Alabama

Quarterback
Danny O’Neil – 42.5 (54 snaps)
O’Neil, the lowest graded player on offense for Wisconsin, went 11-of-17 passing for 117 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions. The sophomore was credited with just one “big time throw.” Although he was sacked, O’Neil was given an average of 3.52 seconds to throw. When throwing for under 10 yards or less, O’Neil was 10-of-11 for 76 yards. However, on anything deeper than 10 yards, O’Neil was 1-of-5 with the 41-yard touchdown in garbage time.
Running Back
Cade Yacamelli – 69.8 (11 snaps)
Darrion Dupree – 66.6 (20 snaps)
Dillin Jones – 66.4 (26 snaps)
Yacamelli saw most of his action late and registered 21 yards on five carries. Dupree led the group with 26 yards rushing on seven carries. He also caught three passes for 13 yards. Jones added 25 yards on five attempts. Between the group, 48 of the combined 72 yards came after contact. The Wisconsin tailbacks had just three first downs on the day, and the longest run was nine yards, courtesy of Yacamelli.

Ballard had a 41-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to bring Wisconsin within 38-14 of Alabama. No Badger receiver had more than one reception on the day. Anthony was targeted three times, coming up with just one reception for eight yards. Anthony had a chance at a chunk play in the third quarter, but couldn’t come up with the deep ball, although PFF did not charge the senior wide receiver with a drop.

Jackson Acker – 65.8 (20 snaps)

Mason led Wisconsin with 2 receptions for 30 yards. He caught two of his three targets and also had 27 yards after the catch on a nicely designed screen pass. Acker posted just a 52.5 run blocking grade on 11 snaps.

Wisconsin ran for just 92 yards on 34 carries versus Alabama. The Crimson Tide also sacked O’Neil four times on the day. The Badgers surrendered a whopping 11 pressures. Mandell gave up the most with four, two of which led to sacks. Cubberly was also charged with three. Kodanko and Mahlman also surrendered sacks on Saturday. UW had its most rushing success behind Mandell, generating 27 yards on four carries. The Badgers also got 15 yards on three carries when running behind Brunner.
