Wisconsin LB Christian Alliegro to Enter Transfer Portal
A fear became reality for Wisconsin Badgers fans on Monday, as news broke that starting linebacker Christian Alliegro reportedly plans to enter the transfer portal, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. The junior from Darien, CT is one of eight Badgers planning to leave Luke Fickell.
In his three seasons at Wisconsin, Alliegro recorded 124 career tackles, eight career sacks and 14 career TFLs. Prior to the start of 2025, he was one of 51 players on the 2025 Dick Butkus Award preseason watch list.
This past season, the 6-foot-4 linebacker recorded 49 total tackles, four sacks and a pass deflection across 10 games. On3 and Rivals’ transfer portal rankings have him listed as a three-star player, with an 84.13 rating.
This is one of the bigger losses for the Badgers, as OL Jake Renfro and WR Trech Kekahuna will also hit the portal. He was one of their toughest players this season, sustaining a broken ulna in his forearm in a loss to Ohio State. Alliegro still finished the year third on the team in tackles (53), second in tackles for loss (8.0), and tied for third in sacks (4.0).
A slight positive is that the Badgers have a bit of insurance at the position. Freshmen Cooper Catalano and Mosa Posa stood out toward the end of the season, so at least Fickell has a foundation for the future. Still, Alliegro was one of the best defensive players for Wisconsin, and grew to be a fan favorite throughout his time in Madison
