2026 4-star SF Aziz Olajuwon commits to Stanford

On Saturday, Stanford men’s basketball landed a commitment from 2026 4-star small forward Aziz Olajuwon out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Olajuwon played at Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas before transferring to IMG for his senior season, looking to step up his game before beginning his college career.

Olajuwon took an official visit to Stanford on July 31st and after giving it some thought, he has decided that Stanford is the right place for him. Olajuwon chose Stanford over Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Houston, and TCU.
Olajuwon sees himself as somebody who has an all-around game, capable of doing a variety of things on the floor. That versatility should serve him and Stanford well during his time on The Farm.
“I think I’m [an] all-around player,” Olajuwon told CardinalSportsReport.com after his official visit. “I can shoot the ball, I can dribble, I can pass and create for others, and most importantly I can defend all positions. I’m aggressive on both sides of the ball and I’m coachable.”
As you might have guessed, Olajuwon is the son of NBA legend and Basketball Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon. Having a father who is one of the best to ever do it has been a major blessing for Olajuwon. He feels like that has helped him grow his game tremendously.
“It’s really a blessing to be able to have someone like him correcting my game and giving me secrets that a lot of people overlook,” Olajuwon said. “He’s always telling me what I do well and what I need to improve to be ready for the next level. And I’m grateful for that.”
Given his pedigree, it speaks well of Stanford that they landed Olajuwon. The big thing he was looking for on the recruiting trail was a place where he could develop and become the best player that he could be. It’s clear that Stanford head coach Kyle Smith and his entire staff checked off that box.
“I want to go to a place where the whole coaching staff wants me there and wants to help me become a better player and person,” Olajuwon said. “I want to have teammates that love playing with each other and want each other to succeed.”
Overall, landing Aziz Olajuwon is exciting for Stanford. Not only are they getting the son of one of the greatest players of all-time, they are also getting a really talented, versatile wing who has a great chance to carve out his own legacy. It’ll be fun to see what he brings to The Farm and what kind of senior year he has at IMG.
