Stanford Depth Chart: San Jose State

Stanford released their depth chart earlier this week. Below are some thoughts on the chart and what it means in advance of Saturday’s game vs. San Jose State.

Honestly, I’m going to keep this pretty brief because there aren’t that many changes from last week’s depth chart. That said, there are a few things to highlight:
First off, with Nick Fattig and Simione Pale still out, Stanford’s offensive line once again is going to need others to step up. Fisher Anderson once again is manning the fort at center while Zak Yamauchi and Ziron Brown are co-starters at left guard, so we’ll just have to see which of those two gets more snaps.
Secondly, Jordan Onovughe is listed on the wide receiver depth chart behind Caden High. Given he’s missed the past three games, it would be nice for Stanford if they got him back. That would be a welcomed return.
Third, middle linebacker Jahsiah Galvan once again is listed on the depth chart despite not having played since the Hawaii game. At some point, this starts to feel like smoke and mirrors, but if they could really get him back for this game, that would be big. He’s got a chance to make a real impact on the defense once he returns. Hopefully for Stanford, his return truly is imminent.
Finally, outside linebacker Teva Tafiti is at full strength. After being listed as co-starting last week, Tafiti is listed as the starter at outside linebacker. That indicates that he should be a full go after getting some snaps last week at Virginia. Having him out there should make a real difference given his pass rush abilities.
