Stanford football has released their injury report in advance of Saturday’s game at SMU (9:00 AM PT on The CW).

READ: ACC Student Athlete Availability Reports

First off, of the group that is out, the ones to take note of are cornerback Cam Richardson, running back Tuna Altahir, cornerback Javion Randall, offensive lineman Nick Fattig, offensive lineman Zak Yamauchi, offensive lineman Simione Pale, and wide receiver JonAnthony Hall. And then as a reminder, linebacker Matt Rose is out for the first half due to a targeting call against San Jose State.

Altahir being out is a bummer because he adds depth at the running back spot and has done some good things in the backfield and then the offensive line being dinged up is never good. Expect Ziron Brown to slide into a starting role with Yamauchi out. Hall has never been able to stay healthy this year and he’s a guy who Stanford is expecting big things from, so hopefully in the near future he’ll be able to play. Pale being out is bummer, but to be expected. He’s the best offensive lineman on the team so whenever he does return, that will be a significant boost up front.

As for the group that is probable, linebackers Jahsiah GalvanWilfredo Aybar, and Miles McGee stand out. Aybar is a key outside linebacker, so having him out there will be huge and then with Rose being an inside linebacker, having Galvan and McGee available is key as those guys will add depth at the inside linebacker spot for that first half. Galvan in particular should see an increase in snaps in the first half. He’s a guy who hasn’t played since the Hawaii game, so it’ll be nice for them to have him back.

One guy who is nowhere to be found on the injury report (indicating he is a go) that is of note is cornerback Jordan Washington. With Cam Richardson out, it’s huge to have Washington back as he will be able to man the side of the field opposite of Collin Wright. San Jose State really did a good job of taking advantage of Washington’s absence, so it’s really big for Stanford to have Washington back.

Overall, this isn’t a bad injury report for Stanford as injury reports go. They’re getting a couple key defensive players back in Washington and Galvan and there weren’t any major surprises. It should be interesting to see how things shake out on Saturday.
