Trevor Haskins goes to the St. Louis Cardinals in the 15th round of the MLB Draft

On Monday, Stanford senior infielder Trevor Haskins was selected in the 15th round (450th overall) by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2025 MLB Draft. Despite missing a large chunk of the 2023 season due to an illness, Haskins does not have any eligibility left as he did not use a medical redshirt for that season.
During his four seasons on The Farm, Haskins played in 127 games, batting .294 for 22 home runs and 79 RBIs. He had a career .341 on base percentage, a .508 slugging percentage, and a .848 OPS (on base percentage + slugging percentage). As a senior in 2025, Haskins played in 51 games, batting .326 for 14 home runs and 42 RBIs to go along with a .370 on base percentage, a .575 slugging percentage, and a .945 OPS.
What Haskins will probably be most remembered for is his performance as a freshman in the 2022 NCAA tournament in which he hit a walk-off home run against Texas State in the bottom of the 9th inning to give the Cardinal a 4-3 win, punching their ticket to the Super Regional round. That was truly an epic night at Sunken Diamond.
While he was picked in the later end of the draft, Haskins’ bat should give him an opportunity to work his way up the ranks of the Cardinals’ organization. He has the ability to go deep while also hitting for contact. The other thing to keep in mind is the fact that he did miss the vast majority of the 2023 season due to an illness. He only had three healthy seasons of college baseball and didn’t become a regular part of the lineup until his junior year. All this is to say that there is definitely more room for growth and reason to think he can get even better.
Something that could help Haskins a bit is the presence of former Stanford teammate Quinn Mathews, who is one of the top pitching prospects on the Cardinals. It’s always nice to have a familiar face to welcome you to a new organization and show you the ropes.
Overall, it’ll be fun to see what Haskins brings to the Cardinals and what his path looks like as he works his way up the ranks. As late round picks go, I think he’s a guy that has a legit opportunity to make a push for a big-league spot.
