OT Kampas makes his college choice

York senior offensive tackle recruit Costa Kampas (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) was able to draw considerable recruiting looks and interest. Kampas made visits to a handful of his top school choices and decided to give Georgetown University hi commitment. Kampas discusses his college decision here.
“Georgetown was just a different place and a different feel for me right away,” Kampas said. “I was able to make visits to my top schools and Georgetown was the last school I visited.. The visit to Georgetown played a big factor in my decision. Its just the best place for me so I committed.”
The Hoyas stood out from early on
What factors stood out to Kampas about Georgetown that led to his college decision.
“Georgetown has a great coaching staff. I’ve been able to build up a strong relationship with several of the coaches. They recruited me as an offensive tackle but they also feel I can play either tackle or guard for them. The football facilities are great at Georgetown and they also offer a top level education. I’m planning to major in business and they have a world class business schools as well. The visit I made also played a big role in my decision. Georgetown just stood out to me right away. I kne pretty early on in the visit I felt like I was home. It’s just the best overall fit for me.”
Which other schools did Kampas consider before making his college choice?
“I looked hard at Bucknell, Lafayette and also Cornell and I also made visits to all three schools. They all had some great things to offer including strong academics. They all made it a harder decision for me to make. Overall, Georgetown just was the best overall fit for me on and off the field.”
Kampas has a lot to offer
“I bring a high football IQ to the Georgetown football program and someone who knows how to play the game. I’m a leader both on and off the field and I’m also a very physical player.”
So what was the hardest part of the recruiting process?
“I would say the hardest part of the recruiting process was just being patient. Having to wait on schools to make a decision on whether they would offer you or not was tough. Also I learned that you can’t compare your recruiting process to anyone else. You have to just focus on your own process and things edned up working out for me.”
EDGY’s Take on Costa Kampas: Costa Kampas is a big, strong and very physical player. He’s strong at the point of attack and his overall motor and strength are real positives in his game. Kampas is pretty physically ready for the next level of football. His overall senior season could also draw more interest with larger D1 level schools this fall and winter.
