WR Ashiru recaps his summer travels

Batavia (Ill) junior wide receiver prospect Darin Ashiru (5-foot-11, 165 pounds) has been impressive this summer taking part in various team camps and 7on7 team events around the Midwest. Ashiru checks in and breaks down his summer camp travels along with upcoming junior season in this latest recruiting update.
“It’s been a busy summer for me including taking part in our team camp,” Ashiru said. “The college one day camps went well and my focus for the rest of the summer is with my team and just getting ready for the season.”
Ashiru made a handful of college camps
“I ended up camping this summer at the Lindenwood Mega Camp, the North Central College camp plus one day camps at Northwestern, UIndy Mega Camp and also North Dakota State. Overall the college camps ended up ebing a verty good experience for me. The camps themselves went well overall and I was able to work with some of the college coaches along with just showing them what I can do in person. The feedback from the coaches was positive and they all want to see some of my early season video this fall. My best overall camp performance was at Northwestern. I did well in drill work at Northwestern along with doing well in one on ones at that camp. I tested really well at UIndy and that camp was my best testing numbers over every other camp.”
Will he make any college game day visits this fall?
“All of the schools I camped with all mentioned to me about coming back during the season and seeing a game. NDSU already has sent me information about a game day visit along with Illinois. I’m sure I’ll set up some visit dates soon with those two schools along with some others.”
Personal goals for 2025
“One of my personal goals is to have over 1,000 yards receiving and go out and help us win games every week. I want to be a big play threat in every game and just make more big plays this season.”
So how has his game changed and improved from a season ago?
“My overall speed this summer is much improved and I’m playing with much more physicality. I’ve worked hard on my game and now I’m excited to just go out and show everyone what I can do.”
EDGY’s Take on Darin Ashiru: Ashiru, who played last season for Plainfield North before transferring to Batavia last spring is a speedy, twitchy player with impressive speed and is also a well rounded multi-sport athlete. Ashiru still needs to add a bit more strength and size but his overall game, ball skills and tools is high level in my opinion. Ashiru can develop into a higher level slot receiver down the line.
