Minnesota flips West Virginia running back commitment Jett Walker
The Minnesota Golden Gophers have landed their second commitment of the day. On Monday night, West Virginia running back commitment Jett Walker announced that he has flipped his commitment to the Golden Gophers after a weekend official visit to the Twin Cities.
Walker, a standout at Georgetown High School in Georgetown, Texas, is the third running back commitment of the cycle for the Gophers and their 26th commitment overall. He joins fellow running backs Ryan Estrada and Ezekiel Bates, as running backs in the class.
At 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Walker presents a bigger tailback as part of the Gophers’ recruiting class. Estrada currently stands at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, while Bates is listed at 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds.
Walker joins Missouri three-star wide receiver Braiden Stevens as prospects to commit to the Golden Gophers on Monday. Stevens, a speedy slot receiver committed to the program earlier Monday after his own official visit, also took official visits to James Madison and West Virginia in his recruitment after decommitting from South Dakota State in September.
Walker, in his career at Georgetown High School, has rushed for over 5,100 yards and 70 touchdowns. This season, in six games, Walker is credited with 108 carries for 794 yards and 10 touchdowns. Last fall in 12 games, the three-star prospect ran for 2,351 yards and 37 touchdowns on 217 carries.
