The Minnesota Golden Gophers are 5-2 (3-1) after a 24-6 win over the No. 25 Nebraska Cornhuskers. On Saturday, the Gophers will face rival Iowa (5-2, 3-1) in Iowa City with the Floyd of Rosedale on the line.

As the Gophers head into their Saturday afternoon matchup, here’s where bowl projections have the Gophers headed this postseason.

Minnesota Football Bowl Projections

On3 (McMurphy):

The Music City Bowl remains a popular projection this week, with McMurphy projecting the Gophers to play the LSU Tigers in Nashville on December 30. Notably, the Tigers could have an interim head coach at the time of that bowl game as Brian Kelly’s seat in Baton Rouge continues to heat up. The Gophers and Tigers have never met on the gridiron.

Athlon (Lassan)

Lassan also has the Gophers headed to the Music City Bowl in December, currently, but instead of LSU, he has Minnesota facing Tennessee. The two programs have only met one other time ever, in the 1986 Liberty Bowl, with the Volunteers winning 21-14.

CBS Sports

Very curiously, Minnesota is projected to play in the GameAbove Sports bowl by CBS Sports, where they would play the Ohio Bobcats. The Gophers have won nine of 11 matchups against the Bobcats all-time, all regular-season matchups. Their last meeting was in 2015 in the Twin Cities, a 27-24 Minnesota victory.

ESPN (Bonagura | Schlabach):

ESPN’s bowl experts are split, with Mark Schlabach projecting the Gophers to the Rate Bowl at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 26. Their projected opponent would be the TCU Horned Frogs, whom the Gophers last played in 2015 in Minneapolis, a 23-17 loss.

Kyle Bonagura has the Gophers projected to the Music City Bowl to face the Oklahoma Sooners. The two teams have not met since the 1986 season, a 63-0 loss for Minnesota. The Gophers also fell to the Sooners in 1985 in the Twin Cities, 13-7.
