Minnesota football freshmen participation tracker after week two versus Northwestern State

After just one member of Minnesota’s 2025 signing class played in the season-opener against Buffalo, the Golden Gophers saw six true freshmen play on Saturday in their week two matchup against the Northwestern State Demons.
Here’s who appeared and how they performed.

WR Bradley Martino
Martino did not play against Northwestern State and was listed as out with an injury.. He was the Gophers’ No. 1 prospect in the Rivals industry rankings, including the No. 240 prospect in the cycle according to On3.
LB Emmanuel Karmo
Karmo played six snaps against Northwestern State with one tackle. The Minnesota native was ranked as a top-400 player in the Industry Rankings and the No. 1 player in Minnesota
QB Jackson Kollock
The three-star quarterback did not play in Minnesota’s matchup against Northwestern State. His best opportunity to play will be this weekend against Northwestern State. Otherwise, the Laguna Beach, California native is buried on the depth charter behind Drake Lindsey, Max Shikenjanski, and Emmett Morehead.
DL Jayquan Stubbs
Stubbs did not play in the Gophers’ season opener. The Cleveland, Ohio, native was ranked as the No. 575 player nationally in the industry rankings.
DE Enoch Atewogbola
The Avon, Indiana, native did not see the field last Saturday. Atewogbola was ranked as the No. 652 player in the industry ranking,s but was ranked by On3 as a four-star prospect and top-300 player nationally.
LB Ethan Stendel
The Caledonia, Minnesota native appeared on special teams for the Gophers, recording one snap. Stendel was ranked as the No. 688 player in the industry rankings. Like Atewogbola, On3 was higher on the former Caledonia standout than others in the industry, ranking him as a four-star prospect, the No. 300 player nationally, and the No. 1 player in Minnesota.
WR Legend Lyons
The California wide receiver did not play in either of the first two games and was listed on the availability report as out with an injury. He was ranked as the No. 722 player nationally in the industry rank
OL Mark Handy
Handy did not appear in either game week one or two. The La Cueva (NM) standout was ranked as the No. 882 player in the industry rankings.
DL Abu Tarawallie
Tarawallie did not play in the Gophers’ week two matchup. The Minneapolis native was ranked as the No. 946 player in the industry rankings.
CB Zack Harden
Harden recorded three defensive snaps against Northwestern State. The Covington, Georgia native was ranked as the No. 1010 player in the industry rankings.
OL Daniel Shipp
Shipp did not play against Northwestern State and was listed on the availability report as OUT with an injury. The Corona, California native was ranked as the No. 1210 player in the industry rankings.
CB Naiim Parrish
Parrish made his collegiate debut on Saturday, playing in over 20 snaps. The Bergen Catholic (NJ) prospect was ranked the No. 1269 player in the industry rankings.
OL Kaveon Lee
Lee did not participate in the Gophers’ week two matchup. He was ranked as the No. 1284 player in the industry rankings.
RB Xavier Ford
Ford had two carries for 10 yards against Northwestern State. The former Louisiana prospect was ranked in the industry rankings as the No. 1356 player and a top-50 player in the state of Louisiana.
RB Trey Berry
Berry did not play against Northwestern State. The Alabama native was the No. 1486 player in the industry rankings.
OL Nick Spence
Spence was listed as out on the Gophers’ game day availability report last week against Northwestern State and did not play. He was ranked as a borderline top-1500 player in the industry rankings.
RB Grant Washington
The Cleveland, Ohio, native made his collegiate debut, recording 20 carries for 126 yards.
LB Nathan Cleveland
Cleveland did not play against Northwestern State. The Illinois native was the No. 1651 player in the industry rankings.
DE Colin Hansen
Hansen did not play in week two. The Byron, Minnesota native was considered a top-1700 player nationally as well as a top-10 player in Minnesota.
DE Rhett Hlavacka
Hlavacka did not play in the Gophers’ win over Northwestern State. He was considered the No. 1724 player in the industry rankings, including a top-15 player in Wisconsin.
P Luke Ryerse
Ryerse did not play in the season opener against Northwestern State. The former East Ridge (MN) standout was considered the No. 18 punter in the industry rankings.
K Daniel Jackson
Daniel Jackson made his debut, going 2-for-2 on an extra point.
