Minnesota football opens as touchdown underdog to Nebraska

The Minnesota Golden Gophers picked up their fourth win of the 2025 season on Saturday evening against the Purdue Boilermakers, 27-20. The game saw the Golden Gophers erase a double-digit deficit for the second time in three weeks to pick up a victory, but it was also a performance that left more questions than answers.
Now, the Golden Gophers, at 4-2 and 2-1 in Big Ten play will have a short week as they turn their attention to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
According to BetMGM, the Golden Gophers have opened as a touchdown underdog to the Huskers for Friday night’s matchup at Huntington Bank Stadium. The total for the game is 46.5 points.
The Golden Gophers this season are 1-4-1 against the spread this season. covering in a 66-0 win over Northwestern State as a 42.5-point favorite. The Gophers this past weekend pushed the spread with their seven-point victory.
Nebraska enters Friday night with a 5-1 record and 2-1 in Big Ten play. After starting the season with wins over Cincinnati, Akron, and Houston Christian, the Huskers dropped their Big Ten opener to Michigan 30-27. Since their first setback of the season, Matt Rhule’s program picked up wins over Michigan State (38-27) and Maryland (34-31).
Minnesota and Nebraska have met 64 times all-time before Friday, with the Gophers leading the all-time series 37-25-2. Minnesota has notably won each of the last five matchups dating back to the 2019 season. The Huskers’ last win against the Gophers came in 2018, 52-28 in Lincoln. Their last win in Minneapolis was in 2015, 48-25.
Minnesota and Nebraska will kick off on Friday at 7:00 p.m. CT at Huntington Bank Stadium. The game will be televised on Fox.
