Minnesota picks up commitment from JUCO WR Derrick Salley

The Minnesota Golden Gophers continue to clean up on the recruiting trail. On Sunday, the Gophers landed a commitment from JUCO wide receiver Derrick Salley.
Salley joins Hutchinson Community College teammates MJ Graham and defensive tackle KJ Henson as Hutchinson prospects to commit to the Gophers.
Salley at 6-foot-4, and 215-pounds brings elite size to the wide receiver position, a need for the Gophers that they desperately missed over the last few seasons. Salley is ranked in the On3 Junior College Industry rankings as the No.30 JUCO prospect nationally, the No. 6 wide receiver, and No. 6 player in the state of Kansas.
Salley held notable other offers from Coastal Carolina and Oklahoma State among numerous Group of Six offers.
This season for Hutchinson CC, Salley has 33 receptions for 645 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Salley joins three wide additional receiver commitments for the Gophers in Arizona talent Rico Blassingame, Florida prospect Hayden Moore, and recent Missouri commitment Braiden Stevens.
The Gophers currently have a pair of taller wide receivers on the roster in Bradley Martino and Malachi Coleman, at 6-foot-3 and 6-foot-5, respectively, but both are generally inexperienced at the collegiate level. At the very least, the Gophers will be able to offer Salley the ability to come into the program and compete this offseason for immediate playing time and a starting role in 2026.
