The countdown to August 28 continues on and up next in our Minnesota countdown to kickoff series is No. 47, defensive end Enoch Atewogbola.

The true freshman was a Rivals industry rankings three-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. However, he was amongst the Gophers highest rated signees per Rivals (previously On3 rankings). Atewogbola was ranked as the No. 272 player nationally, the No. 30 EDGE rusher, and the No. 10 player in the state of Indiana.

On top of his offer from the Gophers, Atewogbola also held offers from Western Michigan, Marshall, and Boston College. During his senior season at Avon High School in Indiana, Atewogbola totaled 58 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and seven sacks.

So what should Gophers fans expect out of Atewogbola?

In the short term, Atewogbola is going to need some time to continue to develop both on the field and physically. At 6-foot-4 and 220-pounds, the true freshman still will need to add at least another 25-35 pounds to his frame, at least. He won’t see the field in 2025, and 2026 is probably a bit of a stretch as well. That being said, come 2027 and beyond, Atewogbola could be someone that becomes a frequent contributor.

Once Atewogbola does see the field, he has the upside of being a multi-year starter for the Gophers and a potential high-end pass rusher in the Big Ten. The potential is certainly there as the Indiana native has a good first step and is quite explosive. Now it’s about refining his skillset and as previously mentioned, adding that much needed additional mass.
