Minnesota vs NSU Prediction: It's not IF the Gophers win but by how much
After picking up a 23-10 win in week one over the Buffalo Bulls, the Minnesota Golden Gophers return to action on Saturday at Huntington Bank Stadium to take on the Northwestern State Demons.
The Demons are coming off a win of their own, defeating Alcorn State last weekend 20-10, their first win in their previous 20 games.
That being said, Saturday’s game between the Gophers and Demons is not a matter of who is going to win but simply by how much. While BetMGM has yet to release a line on the game as of early Saturday morning, the Gophers are projected by most ratings systems to be a 45-49 point favorite over Northwestern State, including the Massey Ratings.
Throughout Saturday’s matchup, Minnesota is going to overpower Northwestern State in almost every facet of the game. The Gophers are simply just bigger, faster, and stronger than the Demons across the board, and the talent disparity between the two programs will be one of the highest in college football this season.
Simply, expect the Gophers starters to dominate this game. Offensively, they should be efficient and crisp. Moving the ball with ease and finishing drives. Defensively, look for them to get off the field efficiently, keeping the longer, extended drives for Northwestern State to a minimum. This one should be over by halftime if not sooner, and the Gophers should have plenty of time to get their depth and reserve players some valuable playing experience as the game progresses.

Drake Lindsey completes 75% of his passes, throws three touchdowns
We’re expecting a big day for quarterback Drake Lindsey. While we don’t expect the Golden Gophers to necessarily throw the ball at will on Saturday, we believe they’re going to be highly effective when they choose to do so. Lindsey was in control and comfortable last week from the jump against Buffalo, and now will face a terribly weak Northwestern State defense on Saturday. While he doesn’t need to put up huge numbers in this game, it will be important for him and the Gophers’ passing attack to be efficient and effective throughout his time on the field.
