Minnesota lands 2026 S Lamont Hamilton following official visit

The Minnesota Golden Gophers have landed a commitment in the 2026 recruiting class from St. Catherine’s (WI) safety Lamont Hamilton.
The 6-foot-0, 170-pound prospect out of Racine, Wisconsin, committed to the Gophers following an official visit to the Twin Cities for the Gophers’ homecoming matchup against Purdue on Saturday.
Hamilton is the third safety commit in the class for the Gophers, joining Bolingbrook (IL) standout Jordan Lampkins and Fort Bend Crawford (TX) prospect Trason Richardson. The Gophers also hold a pair of cornerback commitments from Ensworth (TN)’s Justin Hopkins and Jefferson (GA)’s Chance Payne.
He also joins offensive tackle Gavin Meier and tight end George Rohl as Wisconsin natives to commit to the Gophers this cycle.
The Gophers were Hamilton’s lone Power Four offer; Illinois State, Kent State, Northern Iowa, and Western Illinois also extended offers.
Hamilton is not only a football standout but is among Wisconsin’s top scorers on the hardwood.
According to WSN, Hamilton last season averaged 30.4 points per game on the hardwood, shooting 50.8% from the floor, including 36.0% from three-point range.
According to GoBound.com, this season, Hamilton has been one of St. Catherine’s top receivers with 44 receptions for 752 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. No defensive stats are available.
