Minnesota loses pair of depth defensive backs to portal
In the last 24 hours, a pair of depth defensive backs have announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal.
S Ethan Carrier
Redshirt sophomore safety Ethan Carrier, a native of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, is entering the portal after three years with the program. The older brother of Gophers linebacker Mason Carrier, Ethan did not appear in any games during his three years in the program while serving as a depth safety.
Carrier, prior to arriving in the Twin Cities, was a standout at Detroit Lakes High School. He totaled over 1,600 career rushing yards and 19 touchdowns and was named to the 2022 Minnesota AP All-State Second Team as a senior.
He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.
CB Harrison Brun
On Thursday, Brun announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal after two seasons with the Gophers. Brun appeared in a handful of games this season for Minnesota as a reserve and on special teams.
The Rockford, Minnesota native had a strong senior season at Rockford High School with over 80 tackles, including nine tackles for loss and four interceptions. He was a First-Team All-Metro selection by KARE 11..

Carrier and Brun are the sixth and seventh players to enter the portal since Wednesday joining quarterback Jackson Kollock, wide receiver Kenric Lanier, wide receiver Quentin Redding, offensive tackle Reese Tripp, and punter Caleb McGrath.
