Minnesota redshirt sophomore offensive linemen Reese Tripp has announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal when it opens on January 2.

“Thank you, Gopher Football, for such an amazing three years,” Tripp said in a statement on X. “It has been an honor to call myself a Gopher. With that, I will be entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility.”

A native of Kasson, Minnesota, Tripp signed with the Gophers as part of their 2022 recruiting class as a three-star prospect. He was ranked in the Rivals Industry Rankings at the time as a borderline top-100 prospect nationally and a top-10 player in the state of Minnesota.

He committed to the Gophers over offers from Central Michigan, Iowa State, and Temple.

In his three seasons with the Gophers, Tripp appeared in three games, including twice this season. Minnesota collected a 7-5 record during the regular season, including a 17-7 win over rival Wisconsin last Saturday. Minnesota will now await its bowl destination and will start bowl practices on Thursday.

Tripp will have two years of eligibility remaining with his next program. He is the first Gopher to announce his intentions on entering the transfer portal.
