Minnesota vs Texas Southern Betting Information
As of Saturday evening, the Golden Gophers are 17.5-point favorites over the Tigers, with the total in the game set at 145.5 points. The 17.5-point line is notably the smallest that the Tigers have been underdogs this season against a major conference opponent. They were previously 29.5-point underdogs to Texas A&M and 36.5-point underdogs to Vanderbilt, while also being a 29.0-point underdog to Gonzaga.
LAST TIME OUT
Minnesota (5-5, 1-1 B1G): Despite the final score of 85-57, the Gophers were competitive for the first half in their defeat to Purdue on Wednesday. After trailing at halftime by three points, the Boilermakers started the second half with a 21-0 point run, and the rest was history. Jaylen Crocker-Johnson led the Gophers with 17 points, Cade Tyson had 15 points, and Langston Reynolds had 11 points.
Texas Southern (1-6, 0-0 SWAC): The Tigers lost last time out to Sam Houston State 82-70 at home. The Bearkats took a 43-29 lead into halftime, and Texas Southern put together a strong second-half effort, outscoring Sam Houston 41-39, but it was not enough to truly put together a comeback effort. Troy Hupstead led Texas Southern with 18 points, Duane Posey had 16, and Bryce Roberts recorded 14.

PREDICTION
Minnesota has struggled in spots like this before this season, so by no means should anyone expect an easy victory on Sunday afternoon. That being said, despite the blowout loss to Purdue, the Gophers have been playing quality basketball recently with their win over Indiana and their first-half performance against the Boilermakers. If they can continue to play at their level, then they should win this type of game going away.
It would take a monumentally poor effort for Minnesota to lose to Texas Southern. The Tigers are simply among the worst teams in all of college basketball and have yet to beat a Division I opponent this season; that first win won’t be on Sunday afternoon at Williams Arena either. The Gophers may start slow, but we expect them to eventually find their footing and cruise to a victory in the second half.
