Minnesota senior defensive tackle Deven Eastern has accepted an invitation to attend the Senior Bowl next month in Mobile, Alabama.

A post-season college football all-star week and game, the Senior Bowl often features many of the seniors in college football and is the unofficial start of the NFL Draft season. During the event held at the University of South Alabama’s football facilities, each of the NFL’s 32 teams will be represented, with many bringing multiple scouts and even general managers in attendance.

This year’s Senior Bowl week is projected to start on January 27, with the Senior Bowl game set to be played on Saturday, January 31.

Last season, four Golden Gophers participated during the event, including offensive lineman Aireontate Ersery, linebacker Cody Lindenberg, defensive end Jah Joyner, and defensive lineman Danny Striggow.

Eastern has played in 44 games for Minnesota, starting 38 games. For his career, he’s totaled 96 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also has five career pass deflections and two forced fumbles. This season in 12 games, all starts, Eastern set career highs in tackles and sacks with 37 and 2.5, respectively, while also tying his career high in tackles for loss with five.

A Shakopee, Minnesota native, Eastern was considered a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle, ranked by On3 as a top-160 player in the nation, the No. 16 defensive lineman, and the No. 3 player in the state of Minnesota. He committed to the Gophers early in the process over offers from Missouri and Nebraska.
