Three-star OL Mataalii Benjamin decommits from Minnesota
For the third time this cycle, the Minnesota Golden Gophers football program has suffered a decommitment from their 2026 recruiting class. On Monday, Lehi (UT) three-star offensive tackle Mataalii Benjamin announced his decommitment from the Golden Gophers.
Benjamin originally committed to Minnesota in early June following an official visit to the Twin Cities.
He joins fellow Utah native, wide receiver Kai Meza, and Norman North (OK) offensive lineman Daniel McMorris as prospects to decommit from the program, all since September 1.
Benjamin holds nearly 20 offers in his recruitment, including Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Boise State, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Utah, and Washington.
The Gophers now hold 24 commitments in their 2026 recruiting class, including three offensive line commitments from Minnesota four-star prospect Andrew Trout, three-star Ohio talent Lucas Tielsch, and three-star Wisconsin standout Gavin Meier.
