Which Golden Gophers earned All-Big Ten honors this week?
10 Minnesota Golden Gophers have earned All-Big Ten honors over the last two days.
On Wednesday, defensive end Anthony Smith earned All-Big Ten First Team coaches honors and second-team media honors. Smith led the Gophers this season with 13.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks while also totaling 32 tackles.
Safety Koi Perich earned second-team media honors and third-team coaches honors, while punter Tom Weston was a third-team media selection.
Earning honorable mentions on Wednesday were safety Kerry Brown (coaches, media), linebacker Maverick Baranowski (coaches, media), defensive tackle Deven Eastern (coaches), punter Tom Weston (coaches), and longsnapper Alan Soukup (media).
On Thursday, two Gophers earned All-Big Ten selections on the offensive side of the ball. Jameson Geers was both a coaches and media honroable mention tight end selection, while left gaurdGreg Johnson was an honorable mention media selection.
Geers recorded 26 receptions this season for the Golden Gophers for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Johnson started every game for Minnesota at left guard.
Gophers’ linebacker Derik LeCaptain also earned Minnesota’s Sportsmanship Award.
