ON3 - Bo Gable, Gering 2025
Four-year starter, two-time all-district, senior Bo Gable (25) will be a big part of another Gering Football success story this fall.

Gering Overview

Big news for the Bulldogs in 2024 as they qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2011, finishing 6-4. And they aren’t done yet, not with seven starters back on both sides of the ball.

Gering Head Coach Danny O’Boyle

“We return a good amount of experience on both sides of the ball, including four guys who played a ton of snaps in both the offensive and defensive lines,” says sixth-year head coach Danny O’Boyle, a 2017 graduate of Chadron State College, who is coaching his high school alma mater. “We have some very good skill players who should allow us to attack from multiple angles on offense, and our defense will have good experience and good speed.”

Offense

Returning at quarterback for the Bulldogs will be talented senior dual threat Rece Knight (6-2, 180), who last season passed for 1,226 yards and 16 TDs and rushed for 462 yards and five scores. At running back, senior Bo Gable (6-1, 205) is also a quality dual threat, last season rushing for 285 yards and five TDs, pulling in 28 receptions for 273 yards and three TDs, and returning a kickoff for a score. Junior Ethan Hernandez (5-9, 185) will add depth at running back while senior Tyler Fry (5-10, 215) will be the team’s fullback.
Junior Ryland Ray (6-2, 185) is a returning starter at wide receiver, last season catching 14 passes for 170 yards and two TDs, with seniors Gabe Milton (5-10, 170) and Trevor Kinnan (6-0, 145), and junior Max Judy (6-2, 185) also part of that unit.
There is also those four returning starters in the Gering offensive line – including seniors Bodie Kumm (5-10, 205), Lukas Kadolph (6-1, 235) and Dawson Elsen (6-0, 190), and junior Che Molina (5-10, 205) – with junior lettermen Trell Gorsuch (6-0, 185) and Hudson Sittner (6-0, 190) also part of the plan.

Defense

Gable (120 tackles, 5 TFL) is an all-state caliber linebacker, leader of a group that also returns Kumm (89 tackles, 3 TFL), Fry (52 tackles, 4.5 TFL) and Hernandez (40 tackles, 2 FR, including one for a TD), with Gorsuch another expected contributor. Milton (45 tackles), Knight (40 tackles) and Kinnan (17 tackles) return as leaders in the team’s secondary.
Anchoring the defensive line will be Kadolph (35 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 3 sacks) with Elsen (19 tackles) another returning starter and Sittner and Molina other possible options. Sophomore Joel Brown (5-9, 135) is a dependable place kicker for the Bulldogs, last season converting 20 PATs and a field goal.

@HuskerlandBob Sez

There is those pivotal back-to-back district games against McCook and Scottsbluff, but beyond that we see the Bulldogs winning six or seven in the regular season and maybe, just maybe, grabbing a playoff win.
