PHOTO: The best sights from Nebraska Football Fan Day, Big Red Preview open practice

Nebraska football officially closed out its offseason early last week with their first practice of preseason training camp on Monday morning.

Now, the Huskers have conducted six practices of fall camp. On Saturday evening, Nebraska held its sixth practice session, holding the latest one inside Memorial Stadium as part of Big Red Preview – a practice open to fans and media.

Big Red Preview was preceded by the Huskers’ annual Nebraska Football Fan Day, which was held from 4:30-6 p.m. inside the Hawks Championship Center.

In addition to the Inside Nebraska staff’s photo galleries, staff writer Steve Marik was inside Memorial Stadium to watch practice. Of note: The ongoing position battles at both left tackle and right tackle, some of the Huskers’ young receivers getting the better of the team’s defensive backs in one-on-one drills and new first-year punter Archie Wilson showcasing himself as a legitimate weapon on the Nebraska special teams unit being run by Mike Ekeler in his return to Lincoln. Wilson, of course, is the ambipedal punter who could help Nebraska narrow the razor-thin margins of their close, one-score losses over the last several years.
