The Nebraska football program will wear all-black alternate uniforms for the Nov. 1 home game against USC.

The uniforms were revealed Friday by Nebraska. The look features black jerseys with white numbers and white sleeve stripes, black pants with white stripes and a white helmet with a black stripe and black face mask. The N decal on the helmet will also be black. On the inner back neck of the uniform, it reads “tradition of winning.”

The 2025 alternates will be Nebraska’s first all-black version since 2020, when the Huskers went with a similar color scheme against Illinois. The Huskers did not wear an alternate in 2024, but did go with an all-white look at Indiana.

In 2023 against Northwestern, Nebraska wore a modest alternate. It included a blue outline on the numbers and inscriptions on the sleeve stripes for the 100th Anniversary of Memorial Stadium. The blue was to pay homage to Nebraska’s 1923 game vs. Oklahoma. That year the Huskers wore blue jerseys to differentiate from Oklahoma, which showed up in red jerseys.

Nebraska and Adidas signed an 11-year, $128 million deal in 2017 that runs through June 30, 2028. Nebraska and Adidas have been partners since 1995.

Adidas, a German-based company, made news this week. Tennessee announced it will be switching to Adidas from Nike when their deal expires in 2026. Nike has outfitted the Volunteers for the last 12 years. Tennessee was with Adidas from 1995-2014.

Last year when he announced Nebraska would not be wearing an alternate jersey for 2024, head coach Matt Rhule said he likes teams wearing traditional jerseys. But he is also aware that players and recruits like to mix it up once in a while.

“I know if our players had their druthers, every player, every recruit would come out white on white one game or red on red one game,” Rhule said.
