Northwestern Week is here. Nebraska football will play its fourth Big Ten game of the year in just four days.

Year 3 of the Matt Rhule Era – the most pivotal of his tenure thus far as the Huskers’ head coach – began with a crucial season-opening win over Big 12 opponent Cincinnati in Week 1 (20-17) before back-to-back blowout wins against overmatched opponents from the MAC (68-0 over Akron) and the FCS (59-7 over Houston Christian.

Then, the Huskers took their 3-0 record into conference play, jumped out to a 2-1 mark with a disappointing home loss to Michigan (30-27) preceding wins over Michigan State at home (38-27) and Maryland on the road (34-31), and then last week’s even more disheartening loss at Minnesota came by way of a 24-6 downer.

The Huskers stormed back from a seven-point second-half deficit to beat Michigan State and followed up by scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter to wipe out another seven-point deficit on the road at Maryland. But all of that momentum – and the Top 25 national ranking that came with it – was wiped out in a flash in Minneapolis.

Now, the Huskers (5-2 overall, 2-2 Big Ten) have to pick up the pieces, regroup quickly and get ready for an always feisty program when it hosts Northwestern (5-2, 3-1) on Saturday morning (11 a.m. Central Time kickoff on FS1) at Memorial Stadium.

The Wildcats are riding a four-game winning streak after having started the season 1-2.
