WATCH: Matt Rhule press conference before Penn State
Matt Rhule has led Nebraska football to a 7-3 record.
After starting the season with a 3-0 mark, the Huskers weren’t able to get the job done against Michigan, but they bounced back with nice wins over Michigan State and Maryland. Then, Rhule’s crew came out flat and disappointing in a loss at Minnesota but, again, rebounded – this time with a gutty win over Northwestern.
The following week, in a College Football Playoff elimination game against USC, Nebraska faltered in the second half during a 21-17 loss. The Huskers (7-3 overall, 4-3 Big Ten), however, bounced back yet again in a rather tough spot, going on the road to the West Coast without their starting quarterback (true freshman TJ Lateef made his first college start in place of Dylan Raiola) and coming home with a 28-21 victory over UCLA. That win allowed Nebraska to enter its second-and-final bye week with optimism and momentum as it rested up for the final two-week stretch against Penn State and Iowa.

First up, Nebraska will travel to face Penn State (4-6, 1-6 Big Ten) in Happy Valley on Saturday. Then, the Huskers wrap up the regular season vs. Iowa (6-4, 4-3 after back-to-back losses to Oregon and USC) at 11 a.m. CT on Black Friday (Nov. 28) in Memorial Stadium.
During his regular Game Week press conference on Monday morning, Rhule met with the media for roughly a half-hour to dive deeper into the Huskers’ upcoming road game against the Nittany Lions, who began the year 3-0 before suffering a six-game losing streak – a collapse that led to the firing of James Franklin following the third loss of that skid. Penn State, though, finally notched its first conference win of the season with a 28-10 victory over Michigan State in East Lansing on Saturday.
Rhule discussed Penn State, what he has seen from the Nittany Lions on tape and what it will mean to go up against his alma mater for the first time at Nebraska.
The Huskers’ head coach also broke down the team’s progress through 10 games, what lies ahead over the next two weeks against Penn State and Iowa, and he touched on plenty more throughout his latest media appearance.
