Nebraska football is 3-1.

The Huskers welcomed another Top 25 opponent into Memorial Stadium on Saturday, and the result was the same as their previous 27 matchups against nationally ranked teams:

A loss.

Final score: Michigan 30, Nebraska 27

Following their 20-17 season-opening win over Cincinnati on Aug. 28, the Huskers obliterated MAC opponent Akron, 68-0, in a Week 2 thrashing. In Week 3, it was more of the same as Nebraska rolled to an easy 59-7 victory over FCS foe Houston Christian, 59-7.

Then came Saturday’s Week 4 showdown with Michigan in the Big Ten opener for both the Huskers and the Wolverines.

In a potential swing game for each team’s season, Michigan got the job done. Nebraska did not.

The Huskers (3-1, 1-1 Big Ten) will now get a much-needed week of rest as they enter their first of two bye weeks this season. The same goes for Michigan (3-1, 1-0), which will head home for its own Bye Week No. 1 of 2 this year and then host Wisconsin on Oct. 4 in Ann Arbor.

Following the Huskers’ off week, they will welcome Michigan State (3-0 entering Saturday’s late-night West Coast matchup at No. 25 USC) into Lincoln on Oct. 4 at Memorial Stadium. The kickoff time for the Michigan State game is still TBD.
