Nebraska WR Jaidyn Doss enters transfer portal

Nebraska wide receiver Jaidyn Doss has seen his time with the Huskers come to an end.
Doss, who was set to enter his third season in Lincoln, has entered the transfer portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos.
Earlier this month the NCAA issued a waiver last week allowing a portion of athletes to enter a one-time transfer portal window that runs from July 7 to Aug. 5.
The 30-day portal window is open to players classified as a Designated Student-Athlete (DSA). The NCAA defines a DSA as a player who was grandfathered in and is exempt from roster limits. For an athlete to enter this one-time-only portal, they must have been removed from the school’s 2025-26 roster due to new roster limits, were an eligible member of a program in 2024-25 and were recruited and assured by a school of a 2025-26 roster spot.
As a true freshman in 2023, Doss appeared to be trending toward an impact role in the Huskers’ wide receiver corps. The three-star signee out of Raymore-Peculiar (Mo.) was one of the more enticing athletes in the Huskers’ 2023 signing class. He garnered early praise during his first fall camp as a young player who could be utilized in multiple ways – whether it be in the slot, as an outside receiver or even as a running back.
“His physical traits, athletic traits, speed and everything, his power. It gives him a chance to do some things early on,” Marcus Satterfield, formerly the offensive coordinator and now the Huskers’ tight ends coach, said in August prior to that season. “… You look at Jaylen Lloyd and Doss, those guys have made some plays and been able to go out there and function from a physical standpoint and athletic standpoint, make some plays on their own.”
Doss, however, suffered a broken arm shortly thereafter, and he wound up missing the first five games of the 2023 campaign. He earned his first snaps against Illinois, made his first reception against Northwestern and tallied a 16-yard catch against Purdue the following week. His final game of his true freshman season came against Michigan State, making a second consecutive start in place of injured veteran receiver Billy Kemp IV.
He logged 79 total snaps in those four games and redshirted. In the offseason, the Husker staff switched Doss from wide receiver to defensive back, and he played in just one game in 2024. Late in the 2024 season, he was moved back to the receivers room, where he stayed for spring practices earlier this year.
“We do everything to win and we also do everything to prepare our guys to have the best careers that they can have,” Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said in November 2023 after it was announced that both Doss and former Nebraska cornerback Ethan Nation were set to redshirt. “… Jaidyn, obviously, wanted to play but was like ‘Coach, whatever you need me to do.’”
