Nebraska will play three straight home games in Nebraska and taking full advantage of the opportunity to get recruits into Lincoln to experience game day in Memorial Stadium.

The Huskers are already scheduled to host a few top 2027 recruits this weekend against Akron and are putting together a deep, talented group of visitor list for the Michigan game later this month. Inside Nebraska’s Tim Verghese provides the latest.

Nebraska dialing up big recruiting weekend for home opener

Nebraska coach Matt Rhule and the Huskers staff are expecting some of the nation’s top class-of-2027 and class-of-2028 recruits on campus for Saturday night’s home opener against Akron.

Both of the program’s blue-chip 2027 commits in quarterback Trae Taylor and safety Tory Pittman will return to help recruit their peers to join forces.

Two of the country’s best offensive linemen will be back in Lincoln. Rivals No. 1 2027 ranked interior offensive lineman Albert Simien told Rivals on Tuesday morning he’ll be at the game. The nation’s No. 5 2028 offensive tackle Kweli Fielder is also expected.

How Week One results, visits impact Nebraska recruiting

Nebraska has prioritized Florida prospects, primarily South Florida prospects, showing little fear of battling Florida, Florida State and Miami. To date, Miami has proven to be the toughest of the three. Sunday night’s win over Notre Dame, and Clemson’s loss to LSU, has the Hurricanes buzzing as they look to contend for the ACC championship

Nebraska has tried hard to flip four-star edge Jordan Campbell for nearly a year at this point, if not longer. Campbell visited Nebraska twice this year and was scheduled to officially visit in June after his official visit to Miami. Instead, he shut down his recruitment after his official visit in Coral Gables. There’s been buzz in recent weeks the four-star is once again considering in-season visits. He is saying the right things about his longtime commitment to the Hurricanes and after taking in Sunday’s win, remains excited about playing for the hometown team.

Nebraska is working to flip 2026 four-star safety Tedarius Hughes from Florida State, but so is Miami. Hughes was in Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday as the Hurricanes are working to gain momentum with the plus-sized, athletic defender. Florida State’s win over Alabama certainly made an impression on the Seminoles’ commit as well. Pulling the four-star out of the Sunshine State might be tougher than initially expected, even if Nebraska does get Hughes back in town for an official visit this fall.
