Recruiting Blitz: Nebraska impresses top recruits with dominant win over Akron

Inside Nebraska’s Tim Verghese recaps a big recruiting weekend for the Huskers.

Nebraska’s dominant 68-0 win over Akron and the electric atmosphere in Memorial Stadium impressed top 2027 commits and targets in attendance, along with a handful of rising 2028 national prospects

Recruits react to Nebraska’s dominant win, Memorial Stadium atmosphere

Nebraska 2027 four-star quarterback commit Trae Taylor was back on campus peer recruiting and reconnecting with the coaching staff. Though he’s firmly committed, the Huskers continue to impress the cornerstone of their 2027 class.

“Well the win was to be expected,” he said. “They did what they needed to do. But the atmosphere was great. I really enjoyed my time there. I’m more and more impressed with Lincoln and the program.” 

Nebraska had top-ranked 2027 interior offensive lineman Albert Simien on campus for the third time. Though he’s gotten quite familiar with Lincoln as a city and the coaching staff through his first two visits, Saturday was his first game day experience in Memorial Stadium. The Huskers are battling in-state LSU, along with Texas A&M, Alabama and more for the Louisiana native. 

“The atmosphere all around Lincoln was like no other,” he said. “Everyone was very excited to watch Nebraska play and the energy continued all throughout the game. Nebraska played well. Their quick adjustments in the middle of a drive [were] impressive.”

2027 Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson four-star EDGE KJ Green had his eyes opened by his first trip to Nebraska, safe to say the Huskers have earned some staying power with the top-ten EDGE

2027 Charlotte (N.C) Providence Day School three-star edge Griff Galloway is the son of Clemson offensive analyst Lonnie Galloway and a target for programs like Michigan, Notre Dame and North Carolina. He spent Saturday at Nebraska for the very first time and came away impressed with the fanbase and defensive performance 

“The stadium atmosphere was electric especially at the start of the 4th quarter,” he said. “I loved seeing the defense give up 0 points and letting all the young guys play
