Recruiting Blitz: Nebraska trending for multiple targets following electric weekend

Nebraska fell short against No. 20 USC, but the Huskers’ biggest recruiting weekend of the year lived up to the hype. Inside Nebraska’s Tim Verghese breaks down the latest recruiting intel coming out of the weekend.

Nebraska is trending for multiple 2027 targets, including No. 1 tight end Ahmad Hudson, a priority five-star target. In his third visit on campus, Hudson loved his time back around the coaching staff and saw his younger brother, 2030 athlete Branson Hudson, earn his first offer from Nebraska. Hudson is aiming to make his decision in July, but at this point he calls the Huskers the leader in his recruitment.

2027 Pierre (S.D) T.F. Riggs four-star tight end Cooper Terwilliger was back in town for the second time this season, and his seventh time overall, as a recruit. This time his younger brother, Weston, a 2030 prospect, joined him as a recruit. Rivals’ Greg Smith and I have input predictions for Nebraska to beat out Iowa, Iowa State and Michigan for the older Terwilliger’s commitment.

I input a prediction ahead of the weekend for Nebraska to secure 2027 Raleigh (N.C) Rolesville four-star running back Amir Brown, back on campus for the second week in a row. Last week, Brown didn’t make it to Memorial Stadium till after halftime, but loved his experience so much he cancelled plans to visit Texas to return to Nebraska for the USC game. This time around, Brown was in Lincoln well before kickoff, spent more time around the coaching staff and saw the pregame festivities for himself. Continue to like the Huskers’ position coming out of Saturday’s game.

Commits return to Lincoln

Three of Nebraska’s four 2026 offensive line commits were back in town as Biloxi (Miss.) three-star Hayden Ainsworth, New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr three-star Leon Noil Jr. and Chandler (Ari.) Hamilton three-star Rex Waterman all reconnected on the sidelines Saturday. Ainsworth and Waterman are listed at the same height, but seeing the two next to each other, Waterman has a slight height advantage on the Biloxi (Miss.) senior. Waterman has been seen as more of a guard projection compared to Ainsworth, but the two have the versatility to play four, potentially five, positions across the line if needed. Noil has guard and tackle versatility.
