Year 3 of the Matt Rhule Era has officially kicked off, and he is gearing up for his most pivotal year as the Nebraska football coach.
The Huskers finally, officially closed out the offseason this week with their first practice of preseason training camp on Monday morning. Now, Nebraska has conducted five practices at fall camp. On Saturday evening, the Huskers were set to hold their sixth session of practice inside Memorial Stadium as part of the second Big Red Preview of the Rhule Era.
Big Red Preview, an open practice for both the public and the media to watch Nebraska practice, followed the annual Nebraska Football Fan Day, which was held from 4:30-6 p.m. inside the Hawks Championship Center.
Following the Fan Day festivities – and just before Big Red Preview – Rhule met with the media for a brief availability just shy of 15 minutes during a press conference at Hawks.

The media was allotted a 20-minute open window to view practice, which offered Inside Nebraska an opportunity to snag five observations that stood out. Some of the highlights included Carter Nelson showcasing his physical stature and growth, Gunnar Gottula and the Husker offensive line, the quarterback work led by Dylan Raiola and offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen – in addition to quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas – and new punter Archie Wilson showing off his leg.
