Year 3 of the Matt Rhule Era is now in full swing as Nebraska football gears up for the most pivotal season during Rhule’s tenure with the Huskers.
On Friday morning, Nebraska held its latest practice of fall camp. Rhule, his coaching staff and the Huskers have now completed 11 practices of preseason training camp.
Following Friday’s practice, the team held another media availability with coaches and players. Kicking off the press conference this time, however, was Troy Dannen. The Nebraska athletic director formally met with Husker Media for the first time since the winter. On Friday, Dannen held a lengthy presser in which he discussed the upcoming year, several major updates on key projects and upcoming events, plus several additional topics regarding Husker Athletics.
After Dannen left the podium, he was later followed by Nebraska quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas and linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek.
A pair of Husker players – linebacker Javin Wright and offensive lineman Tyler Knaak – were also made available Friday to comment on the Huskers’ progress, which teammates are catching their eyes, what Nebraska needs to continue improving upon before kicking off against Cincinnati on August 28 and plenty more.

Last weekend, Nebraska held its second open practice of the preseason, conducting that session inside Memorial Stadium as part of the second Big Red Preview of the Rhule Era. The media was allotted a 20-minute open window to view practice during Week 1 of fall camp, which offered Inside Nebraska an opportunity to snag five observations that stood out. Some of the highlights included Carter Nelson showcasing his physical stature and growth, Gunnar Gottula and the Husker offensive line, the quarterback work led by Dylan Raiola and offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen – in addition to quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas – and new punter Archie Wilson showing off his leg.
