Georgia Tech picked up another important commitment and third linebacker pledge of the 2026 class on Monday when 3-star Braylon Outlaw made it official with his decision to commit to the Jackets over several other Power 4 offers two days before early signing day.

Recently, JOL caught up with Outlaw’s head coach at Pike Road High in Pike Road, Alabama, Granger Shook, to discuss his standout linebacker’s commitment, what kind of player Georgia Tech fans should expect, how his skills translate to the college level and more.

Here’s what he had to say:

How excited are you for Braylon to make his commitment to Georgia Tech so he knows his future plans and can have all the stress of the recruiting process off him now?

SHOOK: “I am extremely excited for Braylon and his decision to commit to Georgia Tech. The stress of committing and making the ‘right decision’ is greater than ever. I am relieved for him and his family. He is closer to home so his family and friends can come watch him play.”

What do you think about how Tech recruited Braylon or what makes Tech the right fit for him?

SHOOK: “I thought Tech was very intentional with their recruitment of Braylon, which is why they have been so successful since Coach Key arrived. He is a phenomenal athlete who can play multiple positions for them. He is also a very smart football player which will allow him to compete early for playing time.”

What should Georgia Tech fans expect from Braylon as a player, a competitor and a person for those that might not have seen him play or know about him yet?

SHOOK: “Braylon has a ‘get it done’ mindset. He has been one of the best I have coached as far as a business-like mentality. He is willing to play any position. He plays with passion and a violent mindset. He wants to punish the ball carrier. He will be a fan favorite!”

What do you feel about Braylon’s skillset and mindset translates well to the college level and do you see him being an impact player early on at Georgia Tech once he gets there?

SHOOK: “Braylon is the ultimate competitor. He is a violent player with exceptional closing speed. He has the ability to fit the run and has elite speed to run with wide receivers in man coverage. He is very versatile. I expect Tech to use him in multiple ways to help solidify their defense.”
