Bill Self, Kansas set to host SG Luke Barnett for Late Night

Bill Self and his staff are set to host just one official visitor this weekend.
Luke Barnett, the 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard from Mater Dei High School, is scheduled to officially visit Kansas for Late Night in the Phog.
Aside from Kansas, Barnett, the No. 113-ranked player in the class, is being heavily recruited by the likes of UNLV, TCU, Miami (FL), Stanford, Arizona State, Washington, and others.
Known as one of the top shooters in the 2026 class, On3’s Jamie Shaw recently had this to say about Barnett.
“Luke Barnett found his way with the Arizona Unity program this summer by making some big shots,” said Shaw. “The 6-foot-3 shooting guard knocked down just over 36 percent of his 6.7 threes attempted on Nike’s EYBL Circuit.
“He has good footwork and a quiet base, along with a lot of confidence and consistent release, no matter stepping into it or shooting off movement,” he added. “He shot on volume and was a consistent scorer this summer.”

Not long ago, Bill Self and his staff had an unforgettable week on the recruiting trail. During a seven-day stretch, Tay Kinney, Trent Perry, Javon Bardwell, and Davion Adkins all committed to Self’s squad.
The Jayhawks are still in the mix for Tyran Stokes, the No. 1-ranked player in the 2026 class, Ethan Taylor, the No. 19-ranked player in the 2026 class, along with several others.
However, it would appear, at least with a visit to Late Night in the Phog set, that the staff may very well be making a move for one of the nations top shooters.
“3-star SG Luke Barnett is a really quality shooter, able to knock things down off movement or the stand still,” said Shaw. “An off-the-ball guard, the shooting pulls gravity, and it is only a matter of time before he gets going.”
Joe Tipton tabbed Barrnet a Top Performer at EYBL
Back in July, On3’s Joe Tipton tabbed Barnett as one of Friday’s Top Performers at Nike EYBL. Tyran Stokes, Maximo Adams, Brandon McCoy, and Jason Crowe were also listed in the update.
“Luke Barnett is an elite shooter,” said Tipton. He caught fire today, knocking down at least five threes. His outside shot is deadly. He doesn’t necessarily have the burst or athleticism but shooting is something that always translates.
“Barnett finished with 20 points, knocking down five of his eight shot attempts from deep,” he added. “He holds offers from schools like Washington, Stanford, Arizona State, Villanova, and others.”
