Paul and Linda DeBruce, proud University of Kansas alumni and longtime philanthropists, have made a $25 million gift to support the Gateway District and renovation of David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, marking another transformational investment in the university’s future.

The Gateway District will serve as a reimagined entrance to campus and KU Athletics, featuring a redesigned stadium, a conference center, and year-round commercial and entertainment spaces.

“Paul and Linda are remarkable leaders, inspiring philanthropists and proud Jayhawks, who leapt at the opportunity to be a part of this transformational project,” said KU Director of Athletics Travis Goff. “The Gateway District and the reimagined David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium will be a landmark destination for generations to come thanks in large part to their vision and generosity.”

In recognition of their gift, KU will name a new premium hospitality space in the stadium the Paul and Linda DeBruce Jayhawk Club. It will serve as a game-day gathering spot and provide dining services to student-athletes throughout the year.

The DeBruces, who have supported numerous KU projects including the DeBruce Center, KU Cancer Center, and Alzheimer’s and dementia research, say this latest gift reflects their deep connection to the university.

“We appreciate the strong educational foundation KU provided to us and the great friends and memories we’ve made at KU games throughout the years,” said Paul DeBruce. “We’re proud to support a project with impact of this magnitude.”

“KU Athletics keeps Jayhawks connected to the university,” added Linda DeBruce. “It truly is the ‘Gateway,’ so this project is aptly named.”

KU Chancellor Douglas Girod praised the couple’s generosity and long-standing commitment:

“We’re so grateful for the DeBruce family’s generosity and continued legacy of loyal support for KU. This incredible gift is an investment not just in the Gateway District but in our university, our students and the state of Kansas.”

The DeBruces’ gift is the latest in their long history of philanthropy. Through the DeBruce Foundation, they have supported more than 90 nonprofit organizations, from civic causes to education, the arts, and social services. Both Paul and Linda also serve on numerous boards and remain active community leaders.
