Kansas players meet with media for West Virginia week

Several Kansas players met with the media this week to talk about the West Virginia game and what they accomplished during the bye week. Kobe Baynes, Jalon Daniels, Trey Lathan, Bangally Kamara, and Tate Nagy were the player representatives this week.
Jalon Daniels- QB
Quarterback Jalon Daniels said the bye week was good for recovery and preparation, allowing the team to regroup, study film, and focus on West Virginia. He said the young players gained live reps and noted Kansas’ success after bye weeks comes from added rest and extra preparation time. Daniels credited his confidence and communication with offensive coordinator Jim Zebrowski for his strong start.
Trey Lathan- LB
Kansas linebacker Trey Lathan said facing his former team will be emotional but it’s another game to win. He said the defense is preparing for WVU’s tempo offense, talked about his growth in confidence and leadership, talked highly of his younger teammates getting reps during the bye week, and stressed discipline on critical third and fourth downs.
Tate Nagy- WR
Freshman wide receiver Tate Nagy said he was excited when coaches gave him the chance to return punts, something he hadn’t done since high school. He credited Chiefs returner Nikko Remigio and special teams coach Dave Toub for offering advice that boosted his confidence early. Nagy described the speed difference from high school, learning to trust his blockers, and contributing at wide receiver against Wagner. He added that shifting from quarterback to receiver has been a learning experience.
Kobe Baynes- OL
Kobe Baynes said the run game is close to breaking big plays, with their focus on fixing small details like assignments and finishing blocks. He credited Missouri’s defensive front for limiting success but stressed improvement moving forward. Baynes talked about West Virginia’s effort on film and the leadership role he and Bryce Foster have taken with younger linemen. He also pointed to the growth of players like Tavake Tuikolovatu and Enrique Cruz.
Bangally Kamara
Bangally Kamara returned just one week after his injury, saying he was determined to play his final season without missing time. Though limited against Missouri, he focused on improving during the bye week and now feels stronger. Kamara said the defense has to play with discipline and communication in preparing for West Virginia’s tempo offense, and credited scout team reps for simulating the pace.
