Kansas to Appear on Three ESPN Big Monday Contests in 2026

The last two seasons have been anything but memorable for Bill Self and the University of Kansas men’s basketball program.
Kansas, during those two seasons, kicked off each campaign as the No. 1-ranked team in college basketball, but ultimately dropped out of the top 25. During the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, Self’s squad was eliminated in the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament, winning just one tournament game.
Kansas closed out the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 23-11 and 10-8 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks went 15-1 at home, 3-7 on the road, and 5-3 in neutral games.
Last season, Kansas posted an overall record of 21-13 and 11-9 in conference play. At home, Self’s squad posted a record of 14-3, but struggled on the road (4-8), and were 3-2 in netural site games.
Overall, Kansas posted an overall record of 44-24. The Jayhawks went 21-17 in the Big 12 and, at home, went 29-4.
Kansas will appear on three ESPN Monday matchups
Kansas men’s basketball will appear on three ESPN Monday contests as the Big 12 Conference released the Big Monday schedule for the 2025-26 season. With a total of 105 ESPN Big Monday battles, KU is the only conference school to have appeared at least three times in each season in the 30-year history of the Big 12.
Kansas will play its first ESPN Big Monday contest of the 2025-26 season at Texas Tech on Feb. 2. The following week, KU will host Arizona on Feb. 9. Two weeks later, Kansas will host Houston on Feb. 23. ESPN Big Monday contests will start at 8 p.m. (CT).
Since the inception of the Big 12 in 1996-97, Kansas has appeared in more Big Monday contests than any other conference school. KU is 81-24 all-time on Big Monday (49-1 at home and 32-24 on the road), including 62-19 under head coach Bill Self (38-0 at home and 24-19 on the road). Additionally, KU has won 42-consecutive Big Monday games hosted at Allen Fieldhouse. Overall, KU is 26-7 (78.8%) in its last 33 Big Monday contests.
