Another prospect from the 2026 class has committed to Kansas.

On Friday afternoon, Luke Barnett, the 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard from Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) gave the nod to Bill Self and the Jayhawks just minutes ago.

Throughout his recruitment, Barnett, a three-star prospect, took official visits to Kansas, Miami, and UNLV. He had planned to visit TCU this weekend, but that visit will no longer take place.

His most recent visit was to Kansas, which took place this past weekend (October 17).

Before arriving in Lawrence for his official visit, Barnett, the No. 113-ranked player in the 2026 class, talked to JayhawkSlant.com about how his visit to Kansas came to be.

“Yeah, they’ve been recruiting me for the last couple of months, and then it’s picked up even more, so the last few weeks I’d say,” said Luke Barnett when talking about how his upcoming visit to Kansas came about.

Barnett has established himself as one of the top shooters in the 2026 class.

Barnett also talked about what he was hoping to see and experience during his visit and expressed how excited he was to visit Kansas.

“Nothing specific, but I’m just excited to see the team practice, see all the facilities, and the school,” said Barnett. “I want to see what it’s like to be around the coaches.

“Yeah, it’s definitely super exciting,” he added. “Just knowing how great of a program Kansas has been for so long and how much history the program and Coach Self have, so yeah, it’s definitely pretty cool to think about.”

Barnett holds the school record with 55 point and 12 made three pointers made.

Luke Barnett one of the top shooters in the class

Considered one of the top shooters in the class, there’s no don’t that doubt that Barnett has the ability to change the landscape of the game with his shooting touch from behind the arc.

However, he isn’t just a shooter. While considered a specialist, Barnett has the ability to score off the bounce while also getting to the basket.

He’s the type of player that’s haunted Kansas in the past with his ability to make tough shots from behind the art

Currently, Barnett joins Tay Kinney, Davion Adkins, and Trent Perry in the 2026 class.
