WATCH: Bill Self met with the media on Monday morning

At his summer press conference, Kansas head basketball coach Bill Self spoke about roster construction and summer development. He mentioned the importance of adding Paul Mbiya and Kohl Rosario late in the cycle. He said the roster was incomplete before their arrival.
Kansas is still open to adding another guard, saying they are looking for a player who can run a team and provide shooting and experience. Self talked about the shift away from chasing rankings and focused instead on athleticism, shooting, and size.
Darryn Peterson, Kohl Rosario, and Jayden Dawson have stood out as shooters. Self said Peterson is “ultra-talented” and said the team must learn to play through his strengths.
Elmarko Jackson and Bryson Tiller are back healthy but working on timing. When they built the roster, athleticism was the top priority, and he hopes this group can make more instinctive plays compared to last year’s team.
