Kansas head coach Lance Leipold opened fall camp liking the energy and effort on the first day. He highlighted the strong culture in the program, especially with 50 new scholarship players. Leipold credited returning leaders and experienced transfers like Justice Finkley, Lyrik Rawls, and DJ Graham for stepping into leadership role and helping integrate newcomers.

He talked about continuity from last year, especially with quarterback Jalon Daniels participating fully. Offensive lineman Bryce Foster is expected back soon, and Leipold praised backups like Tyler Mercer and Amir Herring for stepping up.

Leipold confirmed a hopeful August 1 night practice in the new stadium, calling it a game-changing facility for the program. He likes the recent additions such as Jaidyn Doss, Bryson Canty, and Enrique Cruz for their potential.

The defensive tackle group has grown deeper and stronger, with players like Kenean Caldwell and Marcus Calvin showing major progress. Leipold said the running back room is in good shape with Daniel Hishaw taking on a leadership role and Leshon Williams returning in better form. He expects competition in the secondary, with multiple players ready to contribute.
