Gregg Glenn III, a former basketball player at the University of Michigan, passed away over the weekend, the Tulane men’s basketball program announced on Monday morning. In a note addressed to the Tulane community, Tulane Vice President of Student Affairs Sarah Cunningham described Glenn III’s passing as a “tragic accident.”

Glenn III spent one season in Ann Arbor under former head coach Juwan Howard. He played in four games for the Wolverines off the bench in 2022-23. Averaging 1.5 points and 2.8 minutes per game, Glenn III elected to enter the Transfer Portal. Ultimately, he ended up taking his talents to the Tulane Green Wave.

In 2023-24, Glenn III played in 30 of Tulane’s 31 games, averaging 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per contest. This past season, though, Glenn III drastically improved his game. He started in all 34 games for the Green Wave, averaging 10.6 points 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

“Gregg was an outstanding athlete on our men’s basketball team,” Cunningham wrote, “and an individual who brought joy and light to those around him. His commitment to excellence inspired many of us.”

“Let us remember Gregg not just for his achievements in sports, but for the kindness and warmth he shared with everyone. He will forever remain a part of our university family.”
