Brock Barrows grew up down the street from Evan Boehm.

He looked up to the future Missouri and NFL offensive lineman. His father, Chris Barrows, even coached the future star following his own playing career for the Tigers in the 1990s. So when the younger Barrows returned to Memorial Stadium this past Saturday, he saw everything come full circle.

“I don’t know if there’s any other coach or recruiter in the nation that has a type of connection like that,” said Barrows of Boehm, the assistant director of player personnel and recruiting relations. “It’s awesome. I couldn’t ask for a better person to be there.”

Barrows also caught up with offensive line coach Brandon Jones before the pregame meal with other visitors. While still unoffered by the Tigers, Barrows, a Class of 2028 interior offensive lineman at Lee’s Summit (Mo.) West, has already fielded scholarships Arkansas, Iowa State and Tennessee.

“I’m not holding my breath for it,” Barrows said about receiving an offer from Missouri. “It’ll be a real full circle moment when it does (happen). It would definitely be cool, but I’m not gonna wait around or anything for it.”

Barrows camped with the Tigers over the summer, following a trip for the Battle Line Rivalry in November. But the atmosphere of the Mayor’s Cup against South Carolina only compared to one other game he previously attended: Kansas State in 2023.

“It was pretty close to that type of environment, if not just as crazy,” said Barrows, an eighth grader at the time. “It’s obvious how well they’re coached, especially to have that type of depth where a backup can come in and play incredible. Obviously, you see what Ahmad Hardy did, and he’s a great player. But that’s not all just him. The offensive line played great, and it was really cool to watch.”
