The Week that Was: Mizzou athletics from Aug. 4-10

With fall camp in full swing, it’s easy to miss stuff when we’ve got story after story coming your way. So here’s a recap of what we didn’t cover with links to what we did.
Football
I opened the week with a photo gallery of the North End Zone construction project, then Kenny wrote about Florida commit CJ Hester detailing his relationship with Javion Hilson.
Then I kicked into camp coverage with a story about transfers standing out. Kenny added a story about Mississippi State pledge Micah Nickerson’s parents recognizing their role in his recruitment. Then I wrote about Daylan Carnell returning to lead Mizzou’s defense. I added another story about Cayden Green helping Mizzou’s O-line reload.
After the Tigers’ first scrimmage of fall camp, I wrote about who was standing out to the other players, then posted the videos of Mizzou players speaking on Tuesday.
I added a story about Chris McClellan anchoring the D-line, then Kenny wrote about Mizzou using its Ohio connections to stay in the top group of Lual Aleu.
I wrote about the impact new Mizzou linebackers coach Derek Nicholson has had on his players, before Kenny wrote about Nicholson meshing well with the Tigers’ freshmen linebackers.
Continuing the linebacker trend, I wrote about the linebacker room possibly being the Tigers’ secret weapon and another story about how Josiah Trotter was born to play linebacker.
Kenny wrote about Gavin Sidward praising Sean Gleeson, then I wrote about Toriano Pride’s take on the Tiger receiver room.
I continued my look into the history of the Border War with a look at 1982. Then I wrote about Ahmad Hardy going from unknown to unstoppable.
I added a story about Dominick Giudice becoming a key piece, then Kenny wrote about 2027 defensive lineman Jaylen Mercer plotting his first visit to Mizzou alongside his brother.
The Tigers hired their first Director of Football Strategy and Finance. Here is my recap of the hiring. I then wrote about five returning Tigers set for a step forward and I wrote about Toriano Pride’s growing confidence in the corner room.
Khalil Jacobs popped up again when I wrote about his new perspective he’s bringing into 2025.
Then I wrote a slew of stories about the Tigers opening up their second scrimmage to select media.
First it was a recap of the scrimmage. Then a look at how the quarterbacks played. I put out video and a transcript of Eliah Drinkwitz talking after the scrimmage. Then did some analysis with a Said and Unsaid of Drinkwitz’s presser.
I wrote about five players who stood out to me at the scrimmage to finish the week.
