Dennis Gates pulled it off again.

The Missouri head coach landed the No. 33 overall recruit in the 2026 class, Toni Bryant, who verbally committed to the Tigers on Monday, a source told MizzouToday. Bryant joined Inglewood (Cali.) four-star guard Jason Crowe Jr. as the program’s second commit in the current recruiting cycle.

Bryant, a four-star at Tampa (Fla.) Zephyrhills Christian Academy, chose Missouri over Arizona, North Carolina and North Carolina State after his official visit this past weekend. The 6-foot-10, 215-pound power forward has been linked to the Tiger since before December, given a strong relationship with Gates.

“I haven’t really had too many conversations with head coaches that are like that,” said Bryant, who compared his high school coach to Gates.

Bryant and Gates spent the majority of the visit together Saturday. The two drove around campus on golf carts with two other staffers before returning to Faurot Field for the football team’s game against Kansas in the Border War. Associate head coach Kyle Smithpeters also played a key role in recruiting Bryant.

According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Bryant is the No. 18 overall prospect in the 2026 class. He also ranked third at his position and second in the state of Florida in the most recent update. With two pledges in the current class, the Tigers hold the top spot in the Rivals Industry Ranking with 96.842 points.
